Bahamas Travel Health Visa

All travelers entering the Bahamas must hold the Travel Health Visa implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bahamian authorities require a health visa from everyone who wishes to enter this island country, including returning citizens and residents of the Bahamas. The introduction of the BTHV allows the Bahamian officials to monitor the coronavirus situation and take some protective measures in case of new infection risks.

In the BTHV online application, every traveler provides essential information on planned travel and health conditions. 

Currently, the Bahamas allows entry to foreign tourists from all over the world. Travelers can arrive in the Bahamas by air or sea. However, no matter how they enter the island country, they must follow the entry procedures, including having the Bahamas Travel Health Visa. Every traveler should apply for a health visa at least 3 business days before the intended trip date.

Travelers are also asked to attach the negative report of the Covid-19 test when filling out the BHTV online application form. The Bahamas Health Travel Visa application is entirely online and can be completed by everyone who has a working electronic device and a stable Internet connection. The approved BHTV will arrive at the email address provided in the online application.

Travelers from all countries in the world have the option of two types of Bahamas Travel Health Visa. Depending on their particular travel needs, they can apply for:

• a one-entry health visa for a 5-day stay
• a one-entry health visa for stays exceeding 5 days (maximally a 1-month stay)

Important: If your stay lasts more than 5 days, you are subject to taking a rapid antigen test every 5 days in the Bahamas.

Remember also that the BTHV allows only one entry to the Bahamas. It means that you need to obtain a new health visa any time you re-enter the country.

Remember that the maximum processing time may last up to 72 business hours. Do not forget to check your email inbox from time to time. Your health visa may be approved earlier.

Once the confirmation of your health visa arrives in your email, make sure to download it. You may save its copy digitally on your mobile device or print it out and carry its paper copy for your entire trip.

To ensure smooth application for the BTHV, make sure you have the following documents:

• a negative Covid-19 RAT/RT PCR test report issued within 72 hours before the trip*
• a passport that will not expire for at least half a year (180 days) from the intended arrival date in the Bahamas

*Please note that non-vaccinated travelers need to perform an RT PCR test. RAT tests are acceptable only in the case of fully jabbed travelers.

• Nationals of all countries around the globe are eligible for the Bahamas Travel Health Visa
• The Bahamas Travel Health Visa is not an equivalent to a traditional visa that travelers from certain countries must apply for before visiting the Bahamas (if you come from a non-visa-exempt country, you will need to obtain both a regular visa and a health visa)
• If your stay in the Bahamas lasts more than 5 days, do not forget to take the RAT every 5 days of your trip
• Every traveler to the Bahamas must purchase travel insurance, including Covid-19 potential treatment costs
• Children aged two and younger do not need to take Covid-19 tests
• Since October 2021, the Bahamas health visa is no longer required for inter-island travel
